This is a report I completed for my Cell Biology and Physiology Lab during the fall of 2023. The report details a multi-part investigation spanning several weeks into the authenticity of crab meat, using molecular biology techniques to extract, separate, and identify specific proteins in tissue samples. The study compared real blue crab, imitation "krab," and an unknown sample to determine whether the unknown sample was authentic.
The lab report highlights my attention to detail in documenting experimental procedures and proficiency in written scientific communication. By correctly identifying the unknown sample as imitation “krab,” the report also demonstrates competency in SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, from technique execution to data interpretation.
